I bought myself a nice new camera a few weeks ago. I am just getting used to the settings and what not. I also got hold of a piece of software called Photomatix Basic which allows you to make HDR images (One image out of several different exposures). I am just messing about right now so apologies if my images look a bit messed up to all you proffesionals out there, I'm not that good yet :^^':

Technique can't be taught as if studying for a quiz. You have to find it in yourself, living and breathing the technique twenty-four/seven.

Here's some good tips to improve photos of animals and even people;

- Try NOT to shoot above an animal's eye level. It's very much so screams 'snapshot' which should be posted under scraps instead of the main domestic animal gallery. (which makes it very difficult to find photos worth enjoying amongst all the crud.)

- Try to keep the focus point ON the eyes. Most cameras have an actual focal point (looks like this: [ ]). Try to point at the eyeball, focus THEN snap your photo. (Useful for both humans and animals)

- Avoid using the onboard flash if you can. Shoot early in the morning, in the evening as the sun sets OR if you must during the day, a nicely shaded area. Never in direct bright noonday like sun. You'll blow out (make it hugely white) the photo.

I hope these are helpful. ^_^ Otherwise, this is a very nice photograph. You dog looks like a plush coated German Shepherd mix. =)

My beauty is my own, just because it's not like your's doesn't mean it's not desirable all the same.

Thanks =D I'll keep those pointers in mind next time. I't will be a while before I can takes photo's of my dogs properly though because right now they're afraid of the camera >.< they're slowly but surely getting used to it.

It will be a long long time before I'm anywhere near your standard though! Your photos are amazing :D
